First Chakra: Root Chakra (Chakra Muladhara)
Where : Base of the spine. It encompasses the first three vertebrae, the bladder and the colon.
Emotions/Behaviours : The first chakra is associated with security, safety, survival instincts, basic needs (food, sleep, shelter) and family. It is also associated with our physical identities and our ability to stay grounded and present.
Physical signs of imbalance : Constipation, cramps and problems with the adrenal glands, spine, blood, bladder and colon.
Signs of an overactive root chakra : Feelings of greed, paranoia, and heightened fear; obsession with authority and power, material goods or earthly possessions and other elements of our identity.
Signs of an underactive root chakra : Feeling disconnected from nature and the Earth, daydreaming, lack of discipline, inability to focus on daily life, disorganization, anxiety, and financial insecurity.
How to balance the root chakra?
The associated color is red .
So any high-vibration foods with a naturally strong red pigment or grounding properties can help recharge your chakra (tomatoes, strawberries, beets, red apples, pomegranates, raspberries, and even protein).
Adding dandelion roots to certain foods like: carrots, potatoes, parsnips, radishes, onions and garlic and just the roots, can have a calming effect on our base chakra.
Crystals that are red like red jasper , chanting the mantra “LAM”, going out into nature, using color therapy with the color red, meditation, yoga practice and addressing physical and emotional signs of imbalance can all help balance the root chakra.
